Carpet Cleaning Before Selling a Home in Battle Ground, WA

By the Benchmark Team · Updated October 30, 2026 · 3 min read

Short answer: A local realtor needed the carpets in a three-bedroom former rental near Battle Ground Lake cleaned before an open house two weeks away. We cleaned the living room, hallways and bedrooms with truck-mounted hot water extraction and an enzyme treatment on the pet stains, in about one afternoon. See the photos below.

The situation

A local realtor was getting a three-bedroom family home near Battle Ground Lake State Park ready to sell. The house had been a rental for several years, and the wall-to-wall carpet in the living room, hallways and bedrooms looked tired. Heavy foot traffic had worn dark paths, muddy Pacific Northwest weather had worked dirt into the fibers, and spills and pet accidents had left stains and some lingering odor. An open house was two weeks away, and the realtor wanted a quick fix that would not disrupt staging or require replacing the carpet. The before photos show furniture indentations, staining and soiling.

What we did

We evaluated the carpet on site, protected baseboards and furniture, and applied a pre-treatment to loosen deep-set soil. We then cleaned the carpet with truck-mounted hot water extraction, used an enzyme treatment on the pet stains and odors, groomed the carpet, and used fans to speed drying. The job took one afternoon.

If you are preparing a home for sale, see our guide to when to clean your carpets. We recommend cleaning about two to four weeks before listing.

The result

The carpets came out brighter and more even, and the stains and dark paths in the photos lifted. Clean carpet makes every room feel fresher and better kept, which helps a home show well, though how a house sells depends on many things beyond its floors. Results depend on the carpet and the stains, and some wear, such as crushed fibers, cannot be removed. See the after photos in this article.
