Our Story
Benchmark Restoration & Cleaning opened its doors in 1988. It has served Portland and SW Washington for more than 35 years, in both cleaning and restoration.
Today the company is led by owners Adam and Carrie Vermilyea. Benchmark has two divisions: emergency restoration for water damage, mold and fire, and premium cleaning. Benchmark Rug Cleaning is the home of our rug and carpet care, built around a dedicated wash plant in Vancouver, WA.
Our dedicated plant gives fine rugs what they need: inspection, careful washing and controlled drying, with the right space and equipment.
Adam & Carrie Vermilyea
Adam and Carrie are Pacific Northwest natives who live in Clark County, Washington. Adam has led Benchmark through easy times and challenging ones, including the pandemic, with a never-quit attitude.
He is passionate about his team, giving back to the community, and influencing others for the better.

How We Work
- Every rug is inspected and documented before washing.
- Rugs are washed at our own plant, not in your home.
- Prices are published, and your final price is confirmed after inspection.
- If you are not satisfied on delivery, we re-clean the rug at no charge.
